Movement Lab – Active Ageing Exercise Classes for Over 45s
Introducing our Healthy Ageing Circuit classes – where we’ve specifically designed strength and exercise classes for those aged 45 and over.
Staying active as we age is essential for muscle retention, improved flexibility, general physical health, and mental wellbeing too. At Movement Lab, we’ve developed our healthy ageing circuit classes to be run by our team of physiotherapists, so you can get clinical guidance and advice on exercise as you move into your 40s, 50s, and beyond.

Exercise Classes for Staying Active with Age
Research shows that adults start to experience a gradual loss in strength, flexibility, and range of movement once we hit 40.
While we’re certainly not getting old, our bodies do need more targeted and consistent exercise to maintain fitness, flexibility, and general physical health. The Australian Institute of Health and Welfare reports that less than 1 in 6 Australians aged 45 – 64 meet the recommended physical activity guidelines, which leads to higher risks of injury, musculoskeletal conditions, falls, and loss of independence.
Movement Lab’s Healthy Ageing Circuit classes provide structured exercise programs that can be tailored to each individual. Whether you’re rehabbing an injury, you’re looking for a new routine, or you want to help prevent health conditions as you get older, these classes are for you.
Physiotherapist-led exercise classes designed to address the challenges of ageing.
Maintain and build strength with consistent, targeted circuit training, delivered with clinical advice from our team of physiotherapists.
Physical Activity & Exercise Guidelines for Older Adults
The Australian Department of Health recommends adults to participate in at least:
- 2.5 to 5 hours of moderate intensity activity per week (brisk walks, swimming), or
- 1.25 to 2.5 hours of vigorous intensity activity per week (e.g. jogging, aerobics, fast cycling)
Strength training and muscle building exercises are also recommended at least twice a week.
These standard guidelines are the minimum level of exercise, and are not reflective of good physical health for all individuals, especially those with preexisting health conditions, past injuries like osteoporosis or joint issues.
This is where targeted exercise classes like Movement Lab’s Healthy Ageing Circuit can help. Our team of instructors specialise in musculoskeletal physiotherapy and design exercise routines that are designed to support your body’s movement needs.
