Nicole Trapl

Clinical Rehabilitation Specialist

BA Contemporary Dance, Diploma of Pilates Method, Gyrotonoic Instructor

Nicole is a unique instructor with over 12 years teaching experience. She is a qualified teacher of Contemporary Dance, the Pilates Method and the Gyrotonic Expansion System, qualifications that were gained both in Australia and in Europe. She teaches studio classes, privates and dance conditioning at Movement Laboratory.

She was introduced to the Pilates Method during her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Contemporary Dance at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA), and quickly recognised the value of the method as she saw improvements and realised how it complimented her dance training with positive results.

Nicole became qualified in the method and was instructing full time by 2000. She was working alongside an ambitious and talented physiotherapist in Perth in her early years, which helped developed her eye for detail and repertoire prescription in the area of rehabilitation. In 2016 she discovered and fell in love with ‘Anatomy Trains’ by Structural Integrator, Thomas Myers, and dedicated herself to training with the company ever since. Her approach to teaching relies on the science of movements and anatomy. The myofascial properties applied to movement and the myofascial meridians applied to understanding the holding patterns of the body.

All encompassed, her journey returns and circles back to honour her first love of dance and the essence of what moving the body means to her – ‘Our most true expression and embodiment of creativity, intuition and the life we live’.
